Cloud infrastructure updates (AT-RISK)
We will be carrying out some minor updates on the infrastructure powering our cloud platform over the next two nights. No downtime or service interruption is expected. While we don't usually send announcements for such minor work, during similar updates last week some cloud servers were affected so all work has been on hold until investigated. Our software vendors have confirmed that the issue was likely due to a (now fixed) bug in one of the packages so the work is being resumed. Due to this, the maintenance windows below should be considered AT-RISK. Stage 1 - 25/07/22 7pm to 26/07/22 3am Updates to system packages on all nodes within the cluster. Stage 2 - 26/07/22 7pm to 27/07/22 3am Update to the virtualisation software on all nodes to the latest stable version. To confirm, no downtime is expected and clients can continue using the service as normal throughout both windows. Another notification will be sent as each stage is completed.

Tonights work is now complete. While some cloud servers experienced some high load early on in the work, the rest was completed without issue with all nodes updated and rebooted without any further problems or downtime. Stage 2 of the work will proceed in the second AT-RISK window from 7pm 26/07/22. An additional notification will be sent as the work starts and ends along with any relevant updates.
