We had to reboot this server due to the earlier issue, but hardware issues have prevented it from coming back online. Technicians in the datacentre are currently working on the server.

High Load (fripp)
A distributed attack on the login pages of several WordPress sites on the server at once caused the MySQL database to be overloaded, which in turn caused the server to run out of memory while other processes were waiting for access to the database. We've put measures in place to mitigate the issue in future, and we're continuing to monitor it closely for any sign of further issues.

On rebooting the server while dealing with the original issue, we encountered a hardware issue which, after some investigation, required moving the server's disks to a new machine. This move itself required coordination with staff on site and some further reconfiguration once finished, which took some time to complete.

The server is now back online and functioning normally with no loss of data.
